Follow on Google News | HTC Desire Joins the Google Nexus OneThe new HTC Desire is an own brand edition of the Google Nexus one with some added features, the Desire is now ready for a launch on both Vodafone and T-Mobile as well as gaining a SIM Free release date.
By: Susan Hargreaves The HTC Desire looks physically and on paper very similar to the Nexus One Google phone but HTC have added in their much loved Sense user interface found in previous models such as the HTC HD for smooth menu navigation and application organisation. Also, the Desire will feature built-in support for Flash whilst the Android powered Google Nexus One waits for Adobe to support flash this summer. The overall features of both phones are very similar, both offering a good 5.0 mega pixel camera and vivid 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screen display. There is also the option to capture high quality HD (high definition) video as well as watch movies on the high resolution display. Other Google services include GoogleMail and GoogleTalk and also support for YouTube. There’s also support for GoogleGoggles, a neat application that lets you snap a picture with the phones camera for an instant image search on Google. HTC are busy getting another batch of new phones ready for release alongside the Desire which include the forthcoming HTC HD Mini and HTC Legend all of which are pencilled in for around the same time for launch. The release date for the HTC Desire as a SIM Free phone is 12/04/10, there is already confirmation of a launch price of £439.99 although this is subject to change. The HTC Legend and HTC HD Mini are also due at around the same time with confirmation to follow. The SIM Free HTC desire is a network unlocked mobile phone, this allows the Desire to be used on either pay monthly or pay as you go SIM cards from any network carrier. The price may look expensive but remember there are no network subsidies when buying SIM Free phones, they can be used on any network and are yours to keep. There is already talk from the networks as to who will be supporting the HTC Desire, these include confirmation from T-Mobile and Orange as well as Vodafone for releases around early to mid April.
