Chicago Business Professionals to Take the Stage at the House of Blues

Guitar Chicago Announces First Student Concert in April

CHICAGO — March 4, 2010 — Attorneys, hedge fund managers and web designers
are among the many occupations that will be represented on stage at the
House of Blues in Chicago. Downtown Chicago music school Guitar Chicago
announced that its first concert involving students will be held on April
27 at the famed venue. The majority of the school's students are adults,
most of whom are professionals working in Chicago’s Loop, and the concert
will feature these students playing on the House of Blues stage alongside
local professional musicians.
“We wanted to offer our students the chance to do something that very few
people get to do,” said James Lenger, founder of Guitar Chicago. “Many of
our students have always wanted to experience what it's like to be a rock
star. Now they will get to try it out at one of the most popular music
venues in the country.”
Rockfete
The event is called Guitar Chicago’s Rockfete. Participating students have
selected a song they wish to perform, and they are working on that song as
part of their weekly lesson. Once they have the song down, they will sit
in with the band that has been assembled for the event. Then they will tap
into their inner rock star and jam out on stage.
Event Details
Guitar Chicago’s Rockfete will be held 7:30pm on April 27, 2010, at the
House of Blues in Chicago. Tickets are $10 and are available on the House
of Blues website and through Ticketmaster. Part of the profits from ticket
sales will go to the Israel Idonije Foundation, a Chicago-based
organization started by the Chicago Bears’ defensive tackle that provides
support to individuals and families in economically disadvantaged
communities.

Launched in 2006, Guitar Chicago was founded to be an oasis for business
professionals working in Chicago’s Loop, as well as a school that provides
one-on-one mentoring for anyone who wants to learn an instrument. The
school features instructors who are not only highly skilled, talented
musicians, but also outstanding teachers.
