4DDynamics Makes 3D Scanning a Viable Business Solution with Mephisto Scanners

Feb. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Antwerp, Belgium -- February 23, 2010 -- 4DDynamics offers the new Mephisto family of 3D scanning systems, making it a viable business solution for studios to start 3D scanning services. Based on the flexibility of the Mephisto scanners and the fully-integrated solution, it gives users the potential to scan anything from fingerprints and small objects like coins or precious museum pieces (which need accurate colour representation) to larger objects like car components or the human body for body scanning.

These 3D scanners use off-the-shelf Optoma (www.optoma.com) projectors and AVT (www.alliedvisiontec.com) cameras capable of capturing Structured Light Images at a rate of 30 frames per second. The optional Mephisto turntable fully integrates with the software to more easily automate scanning procedures of pieces up to 25 Kg.

In addition to 3D scanning of museum pieces for data archiving, the Mephisto 3D scanners can be applied in other areas like scanning people, or scanning any object for 3D reconstruction and replication with a standard 3D printer.
