Feb. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- In the very competitive TV market, Samsung Electronics holds a unique position in the sense that it is the only TV manufacturer that has so far enjoyed a market share that nears 20% of the worldwide TV market.

.With regard to liquid crystal displays (LCD), Samsung shipped 27.5 million units in 2009. The company announced a few weeks ago an ambitious sales goal of 35 million LCD TVs in 2010.

LG’s 16.2 million LCD TV sales place the company second in the line. With a sales goal of 25 million units in 2010, LG hopes to compete aggressively with its home rival Samsung and Japanese TV manufacturers Sony Corp and Sharp.

Tokyo-based Sony holds the third spot in this market. Sony expects to ship 15 million units in its fiscal 2009 ending in March 2010. The company is targeting a 50% on-year increase in LCD TV sales to about 23 million units in fiscal 2010.
