PRLog -- Hutchison Telecoms Australia has announced on Friday its 2009 financial results, only six months after the merger completion between 3 and Vodafone to become VHA (Vodafone Hutchison Australia). Operating highlights show a substantial increase in service revenue of 28% to a record AUD1.8 billion, generating a bottom line of more than AUD467 million in 2009.
As far as operational performance is concerned, VHA reports 6.9 million mobile customers of which 56.8% are postpaid, while Arpu went down by almost 20% to AUD56 from 67.
But most striking is the astonishing jump of mobile broadband customers – those using mobile broadband USB modems and data cards- that grew by 134% in 2009 to reach 673,000. Besides, a further 717,000 customers either subscribe to 3G services on their mobile handset or use their handset as a modem to access the internet, up 201%.
