Urbanly DIVA Inc. hosts Hannah's Sock "Sock Drive" in Phoenix, AZ

Feb. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Urbanly DIVA Inc. hosts Hannah’s Socks “Sock Drive” in Phoenix, AZ

Urbanly DIVA Inc. will host its 1st “Sock Drive” in Phoenix and surrounding areas beginning February 7, 2010 through March 28, 2010. Please donate new socks as well as new underwear for men, women and children of all sizes. Socks will be collected for distribution to UMOM New Day Centers/Watkins Overflow Shelter.

Socks will be collected every Saturday at area Starbucks, in Scottsdale, Phoenix, East and West Valleys between the hours of 9:00 am and 11:00 am. Hannah’s Story

More than five years ago, then four year old Hannah Turner and her family were serving Thanksgiving dinner at a homeless shelter in Toledo, Ohio. There Hannah saw a man whose shoes had split open, revealing he wasn’t wearing socks. Although her mother, Doris, assured her the man’s shoes would keep his feet warm, Hannah wasn’t convinced and told her, “Mommy, he can have my socks.” The next day, Doris took Hannah to purchase and distribute socks to local shelters.

Hannah’s Socks serves homeless and domestic-violence shelters in the Midwest, with offices in Toledo and Cincinnati. Hannah's Socks collects donated materials in the form of new men's, women's and children's socks and undergarments, then leverages partnerships with local shelters for distribution to both the homeless and to victims of domestic violence.
