Feb. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- If you were to search the Apple App Store on February 4Th for an app to aid the bereaved in their grief process, you'd come up empty handed. However, on February 5Th the first ever "Grief Support" app was added to the App store. A vision come to life for Grief Counselor/Pastor Joe Prainito.

Joe Prainito has been a Hospice Pastor and Grief Counselor for over six years working with a Hospice agency in Riverside, Ca. The one thing that Joe noticed amongst the grieving community is many people are hurting, but will never attend a grief support group. Prainito explains "The grief support setting can be difficult. Put yourself in their shoes; they just lost a loved one, their feeling a vast array of emotions from sadness and anger, to depression and hopelessness. And now, we expect them to sit down in a room with others who are grieving and ask them to tell us how their feeling. We ask them to relive what very well could have been one of the most heart wrenching days in their life. And then we wonder why people don't attend our grief support groups. It's not as easy as sitting down and enjoying conversation. Grief work hurts"

After searching for resources to aid the grieving and bereaved Joe noticed that there was nothing offered in the iTunes app store to help the grieving and bereaved. So Joe went to work searching for a way to develop an iPhone app that was both resourceful, and entertaining. Joe had the vision, but lacked the app development skills. Joe began searching for an app developer that would offer a platform to fit his initial vision for the app. After being let down by the outrageous fees many developers were offering, Joe came across a video on Youtube about an app developer by the name of Appmii; a new app development company that was offering to develop iPhone apps for a much lower price than the thousands of dollars other companies were asking. Joe quickly payed  his money and went to work gathering videos, writing discussion guides, creating an online grief support social network, and recording podcasts. Joe submitted the idea to Appmii at the end on January, and on Febuary 5Th, 2010, Joe's vision for the app was brought to life.

This app is packed with useful resources, including access to the Joe's grief support social community "My Grief Support Group". Prainito explains, "With so many social networking sites including Facebook and Myspace, I thought it would be nice to create a group where grieving people are helping each other through their grief. I wanted to put together a community where the bereaved can share their story and let their voices be heard. Now they can do so from the palm of their hand. From this app you can read the discussion guide, answer the questions, and then go to the Grief Support Community, and post your answers. It's like a virtual Grief Support Group. And to add to this, each member of the "Grief Support" app has direct email access to a grief counselor via email. So if someone is really in need of a grief support counselor, they can get professional assistance"

Although many people are in the app business to make a quick buck Prainito confesses "I'm not looking to make a fortune off of this app. I'm looking to fill a need and bring comfort and support to hurting people."

This app retails for the price of $3.99 in the app store, but is ON SALE for the low price of $2.99. Are you in need of grief support? Download the new iPhone app "Grief Support" today.
