New Platform for Wedding Stationery Designers to Create Matching Wedding Websites

Feb. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- We think traditional press release writing styles are not just bland, but counter-productive.  Interesting content is buried between lines of boring fake quotes, distant and non-engaging third person perspective, and the ever ubiquitous "[Company] is the leading provider of [adjective] [product category]."  We are in the wedding industry, where we hope to be as far from fake, distant, and rote as possible.  See, doesn't that feel better?  We're not a cold distant company, we are a group of people working hard to help make the wedding celebrations of our customers more fun, beautiful, and magical.

Today we are excited to announce an evolutionary step in our business.  The simplest way to describe it is that we are building an Etsy.com, of sorts, for wedding websites and wedding stationery designers.  We were the first company to launch matching wedding websites with wedding stationery almost two years ago.  The response from couples and from stationery designers has been wonderful.  Couples get gorgeous style and design coordinated online and offline.  Stationery designers are able to forge a relationship with a couple much earlier in the planning process, giving them a significantly improved chance at being the vendor of choice when it came time to choose stationery.

The problem: the system was not scalable.  It was expensive and time consuming to produce matching stationery templates, and we couldn't come close to handling the number of requests from stationery designers to add their work into our system.

Our solution: The technically difficult but not risky part: we built a really fun web-based tool that allows stationery designers to create matching wedding websites directly on our wedding website platform.  The technically easy part, but big consumer risk: design templates will be individually priced by the designer.  Why is this a risk?  When consumers are shopping for technology, they think about pricing based on features or capabilities of software.  But we are asking them to make the mental shift to thinking about their wedding website as purchasing design - the same way they think about their stationery, and the entire rest of their wedding for that matter.  Every wedding website already has the same fun-to-use, powerful, unlimited everything technology platform, from the least expensive design to the most expensive.

The reason we got so excited about building all of this was how wonderfully everyone benefits.  Couples will have access to an incredible selection of design - everything from modern, to traditional, to sub-cultures like steampunk, geek, goth, and rockabilly.

Stationery designers will now start receiving commissions on their designs on Nearlyweds, providing them with an opportunity to earn more revenue on their fabulous art.  Plus, designers can now offer their customers matching wedding websites for any of their work, and actually get compensated for their work.  As mentioned before, independent local stationery designers now also have a much better opportunity to reach a wider audience of buyers, just like Etsy brought together buyers and independent sellers of all things handmade.

Stationery designers can sign up for the new program at http://www.nearlyweds.com/designers.
