Travel planning with brains – HAFAS goes mobile on the IT-TRANS 2010

From February 24th to 26th, the software company HaCon will participate at the IT-TRANS in Karlsruhe, Germany. HaCon contributes to the conference with lectures and takes part as an exhibitor as well.

Jan. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Hanover/Karlsruhe. From February 24th to 26th, Karlsruhe will be the meeting place for IT solutions in public transport: By its participation in the IT-TRANS in 2010 the software company HaCon is continuing the successful premiere of 2008. HaCon contributes to the conference with lectures and takes part as an exhibitor as well. Above all, HaCon presents its leading timetable information system HAFAS at the Conference Centre in Karlsruhe. There, the software specialist from Hanover is represented at a joint stand (Level A, Booth E6) with PTV Planung Transport Verkehr AG from Karlsruhe.

As an exhibitor HaCon places the emphasis on mobile HAFAS solutions, especially for the iPhone and for Google Android, Google's operating system for mobile devices. Since the winter timetable change on December 13th 2009, the timetable of Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) is available for the iPhone and called DB Navigator (www.bahn.de). With the touch of a finger, users get quick and reliable answers to questions like: Which stop can be reached within the shortest walking distance? What is the quickest route to my destination? How do I reach my departure stop walking? The iPhone application for travel planning can be configured according to individual customer needs.

HAFAS applications for the iPhone are currently also available in Denmark (Rejseplanen: http://info.rejseplanen.dk), Austria (SCOTTY Mobil www.oebb.at/scottymobil/iphone) and Great Britain (Cross Country Mobile: www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk ). The release of further versions is planned for 2010.

HaCon welcomes everybody to Karlsruhe who wishes to find out more about the manifold possibilities of the modern timetable information with HAFAS. (www.it-trans.org)

There, in addition to the timetable information system HAFAS, visitors also have the opportunity to learn about the Train Planning System TPS. TPS is the instrument for timetable construction and network capacity management developed by HaCon. It is already being used in Denmark and Great Britain and will soon be used also in France.

The conference and exhibition is organized by Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress-GmbH (KMK) together with the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) based in Brussels. Representatives from the transport sector, from public authorities and associations as well as from research institutions take advantage of the congress as a platform to exchange ideas and experiences. More than 90 experts from over twelve countries will present the latest developments and trends in the course of seven lecture sessions, eight workshops and four Market Update Forums.

HaCon will contribute to the Market Forum with a lecture on "Next Generation of Planners Journey". Stephan Sünderkamp, head of the division HAFAS Internet at HaCon, will present new developments with which HAFAS makes travelling by public transport much easier and more convenient.
