Gilbert Barnes & Nobles Bookstores collect more than 400 books for local nonprofit

Jan. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Barnes & Nobles SanTan Village and Gilbert Town Center partnered for the month of December to collect 439 books for local nonprofit Save the Family.  The value of the donation exceeds $2200 which above last year’s total of $1140.  The books will be used during Save the Family’s weekly reading program, Reading Hour.  Children attending Reading Hour read one-on-one with a volunteer and choose 2-3 books to add to their own personal library.

Save the Family (www.savethefamily.org) provides transitional housing and case management services to more than 300 families a year.  With more than 170 housing units serving homeless families with children throughout the Valley, Save the Family is changing the face of homelessness one family at a time.  Through programs like Career Development and domestic violence and parenting classes, clients in Save the Family’s program learn to become both economically and emotionally self-sufficient.
