2010 Marks the 50th Anniversery of Eames Walnut Stool

The famous Herman Miller Eames Walnut Stool turns fifty years old in 2010. Drapery Row observes the occasion.

Dec. 26, 2009 - PRLog -- It was fifty years ago that Charles and Ray Eames developed the timeless classic Eames Walnut Stool for Herman Miller. The Walnut Stool, of which there are three unique varieties, stands at just 15" high but are giants among American furniture design.

Originally designed to be used as low seats in the newly constructed Time-Life Building Lobby in New York City, these "chesslike" pieces were instantly popular, garnering the status of an instant classic.

Still in production today, The Eames Walnut Stool has captured the imagination of generations and stands the test of time as one of the great pieces of modern American furniture, continuing the enduring legacy of Herman Miller and Charles and Ray Eames.
