Dec. 11, 2009 - PRLog -- (PHOENIX, AZ)— In a speech on December 9, President Barack Obama called for a new “Cash for Clunkers” program for homes.  While the details of the plan have yet to be released, the plan would give financial incentives to people in order to weatherize their homes while promoting energy efficiency and resulting in long term savings for homeowners

One local based company, REEis, has already been providing homeowners with a cost effective method to weatherize Valley homes and help homeowners save up to 35% on their energy bills. Their method, called the REEis Integrated Solution, includes a free home performance analysis, completion of construction repairs and simple improvements and facilitates the qualified APS or SRP rebate and federal tax credits on the homeowner’s behalf.   The result is a net expense which is recovered in one to two years of utility savings.

“We applaud President Obama’s initiative. We believe that our process for homes is truly the most realistic and cost effective way for people to reduce their energy bills and carbon footprint by anywhere from 25% to 50%,” said Todd Russo, CEO and Co-Founder of REEis. “We want consumers to know that our process is a seamless cost-effective way to transform their house into an energy efficient home without having to pay thousands of dollars.”

Currently, most energy efficiency companies only offer an energy audit which can cost up to $300 for a report which spells out a home’s failures.  The customer is left to identify a contractor with the specialized knowledge and accreditation to make the improvements.   Furthermore, only a select group of contractors are qualified under the utility rebates programs and have an understanding of the tax credit’s codes.

The cost of completing the REEis Integrated Solution will vary by home depending on the pre-existing conditions and the necessary improvements, but most homeowners will pay anywhere from $.50 - $1.00 per square foot.   However, after rebates and tax incentives, most end up paying far less.

Retro-fitting a home is not simply a matter of saving money on homeowner energy consumption. REEis transformed homes are healthier, safer, more comfortable and have a significantly reduced environmental footprint.  In addition it increases the appraisal value of a home.  According to the Appraisal Institute and the National Association of Home Builders, energy efficient homes appraise three to seven percent higher than conventional homes.
