Dec. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Chris Eboch, author of 12 books for young people, offers free writing advice on her web site at http://www.chriseboch.com/. Visit the "For Writers" section and you can download the following useful lessons:

•   Getting started with writing a story. Learn the main parts of a story, and how to develop an idea into a plot.
•   A list of plot tricks, and a plot questionnaire. Use these questions to find the weak points in your work.
•   A character chart. Use this to get to know your characters better, so they come alive on the page.
•   A list of critique questions. This can help you identify strengths and weaknesses in your stories, or you can use the list in a critique group to direct feedback.
•   Advice on writing historical fiction. You'll also find recommended historical fiction books for young people on the "reading list" page.

You can download all this writing advice at http://www.chriseboch.com/newsletter.htm. Chris Eboch also offers editing and critiquing services to help writers toward their goals of publication.

Chris Eboch is the author of the Haunted series, for ages eight to 12. Haunted follows siblings Jon and Tania, as they travel with their parents’ ghost hunter TV show. In the first book, The Ghost on the Stairs, Tania discovers she can see and talk to ghosts – a fact she wants to keep secret from everyone but Jon, as she tries to help a ghost bride find her long-lost husband. In each sequel, the TV show researches a ghost at a new location. The kids try to help the ghosts, while keeping their activities secret from meddling grownups. The Riverboat Phantom features a steamboat pilot still trying to prevent a long-ago disaster. In The Knight in the Shadows, a Renaissance French squire is trying to protect a sword on display in the Metropolitan Museum in New York City.

Chris’s other published books include The Well of Sacrifice, a middle grade drama set in ninth-century Mayan Guatemala, which has been used in many schools when they teach about the Maya. Chris teaches through the Institute of Children's Literature and is the New Mexico Regional Advisor for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
