Follow on Google News | Calloway’s Nursery Performs Final Harvest of KTXA 21 GardenCalloway’s Nursery, with KTXA 21 News, donated a total of 1,471 pounds of fresh, organically-grown vegetables to the Denton Community Food Bank throughout the summer and fall of 2009.
By: Calloway's Nursery/Melyssa Prince Calloway’s Store Manager, Ty Poynter, arduously worked throughout the summer by preparing the soil, tending the garden, harvesting the vegetables, and delivering the results to the Denton Community Food Bank each week. The last harvest took place the week of Nov. 30 just before the first freeze in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. “For the past six months, we were able to provide nearly three-fourths of a ton of vegetables to help people in need. I am so excited to have been a part of such an awesome humanitarian event,” Poynter remarked. KTXA 21 News began their “Survive in ‘09” series this summer in an effort to provide information to help viewers in this challenging economy. Calloway’s Nursery partnered with the station to show their audience how to make a home garden from start to finish.
