John Nunneley Elected To Nist Smart Grid Interoperability Panel Governing Board

San Jose, Calif. - November 24, 2009 – Today, the SunSpec Alliance™ announced John Nunneley, executive director of the SunSpec Alliance, was elected to represent the renewable energy industry on the Governing Board of the Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP). John joins 20 industry stakeholders to the SGIP governing board who will coordinate standards for a modernized electric power system.

The governing board prioritizes the work of the SGIP, and it will consult regularly with standards development organizations, user groups and others directly involved in standardization efforts. The board will coordinate resources necessary to carry out finalized SGIP action plans in efficient and effective manner.

“We are extremely pleased to have John represent the interests of the renewable power energy on the NIST SGIP,” said Tom Tansy, chairman of the SunSpec Alliance. “John brings together industry stakeholders in the renewable energy industry to address industry compatibility issues by forming the SunSpec Alliance. Now his presence will be felt on the national stage as he joins industry leaders representing the various interests of the smart grid.”
