Hankinson Painting Group Becomes An Environmental Hero!

Nov. 23, 2009 - PRLog -- Following on from its double success at the Green Apple Environmental Awards, Hankinson Painting Group has gone on to be a National Green Hero.

Details on its’ award winning environmental project to reduce the Organisation’s Carbon Footprint will now be published in the Green Book, the only annual international work of reference on environmental best practice.

Green organiser Roger Wolens commented:  “To show continued interest in environmental issues during the current financial climate shows great foresight and they deserve the recognition of being Green Apple Award winners”.

The Company received it’s Green Apple Awards at the 16th International Awards ceremony at the House of Commons and they were presented by keen environmentalist and actress Alexandra Bastedo, star of the Champions and former Bond Girl.

The Green Apple Awards are presented annually in recognition of companies, councils and communities carrying out projects that enhance environment and there were 500 nominations this year.  Hankinson received 2 awards in the Construction Category and the Recycling Category.

Group Chief Executive, Stephen Hankinson, said “this is the first time we have entered the Green Awards and we are delighted to have our efforts recognised in not just one but two categories.  It is a tremendous achievement.  We are also delighted to become a Green Hero which shows to all, our long term commitment to environmental issues”.

The Company were joined at the presentation by Frank Field, Member of Parliament for the Birkenhead constituency and the location of Hankinson Head Office.  Mr. Field commented “By winning a Green Apple Award, Hankinson Painting Group has been recognised for leading the way on responsible business through their programme of recycling 100% of their painting materials”.
