Nov. 21, 2009 - PRLog -- space:loft:six is proud to host Los Angeles-based Trinidadian artist Miles Regis within their studio9 space for private event on November 28th that will feature live painting with works created for his new project “Color Combustion” as well as a piece specifically for donation to the NextAid World AIDS Day event to be held December 1st at the Marrakesh House in Culver City, CA.

“An integral part of our business model is creating strategic business partnerships.  As one of the sponsors for the NextAid’s World AIDS Event, we knew we had the unique opportunity to connect our relationship with Miles Regis with the donation of his extraordinary art to the event’s silent auction,” states Kat Podmolik, Co-Founder & Director of Marketing and Business Development of space:loft:six.  “As an artist with a strong message that speaks through his powerful works, Miles was immediately receptive to the idea and having him create this piece within our studio space makes it all the more special.”

During this event, photographer Jeromy Robert (www.jeromyrobert.com), Co-Founder & Creative Director of space:loft:six, will shoot Regis’ portraits as part of his ongoing collaboration with the artist.  Also on-site will be a documentary filmmaker who is currently chronicling the Regis’ journey.

About the Artist
Miles Regis is a self-taught fine artist whose work is reminiscent of master painters such as Basquiat, Pollock, Gauguin, Dali, Kahlo and Rivera.  His art taps into the emotions of the exotic cultures of the world and adopts them in a proud and authoritative manner.  He has kept that inner, explorative imagination of his mind saturated with notions, ideas and images reflective of a world filled with conflicting interests.  Though strong representations of the rich traditions of his Caribbean roots combined with his American experience, his works speak proudly of the African Diaspora - past, present and future – with each piece of his art evoking unmistakable individuality, still expressing the universal. His images portray and possess penetrating Afro-centricities - a stark difference from the day-to-day encounters with a dominating Western culture. These contrasts make his work compelling and undeniably exciting.

Miles’ work was recently featured on CNN’s African Voices program, where Isaiah Washington showcased Miles’ art at his home and spoke highly of a couple of his favorite Miles Regis pieces.  Miles’ powerful work is providing thought provoking dialog that many notable art lovers, from the likes of Isaiah Washington to Ron Perlman to Nicolette Sheridan amongst others, are now paying attention to.
