GiveMeBackMyCredit.com launches with new look, more great content for consumers

You can't turn on the radio or the TV these days without hearing yet another story about a foreclosure, identity theft, or another piece on mortgage fraud. The current financial crisis has inspired consumers to share their own personal stories.

Nov. 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Denise Richardson, consumer advocate and author of the book Give Me Back My Credit! is doing everything she can to help consumers find resources and a voice to weather the storm.  She recently launched a new and improved website that will help provide a platform for consumers who are navigating their way through an array of financial concerns including identity theft, scams and abusive corporate practices.

Richardson, the founder of GiveMeBackMyCredit.com, says: “So many people are overwhelmed by the current financial crises. They feel isolated and totally at a loss to find a solution to their particular problem.  Many find themselves in a position where they need information to empower themselves against deceptive and illegal practices. It is my hope that this website will help consumers find the knowledge, resources and wisdom needed to better protect themselves from an array of predatory practices.

I want GiveMeBackMyCredit.com to be an informative consumer-based platform where users can find resources and knowledge as well as a place to share their own stories, humanizing what they’ve suffered at the hands of others. If we expose a few corporate wrongs, we might just be able to right a few of them!”

“Over this last year I’ve been highlighting a number of consumer stories on the site. Many involve mortgage servicing nightmares, loan modification run-arounds, identity theft, and predatory lending and debt collection abusive practices. If consumers want to share their stories, I give them the place and the opportunity to do so. By raising our voices against fraud, deceptive practices and greed, we can help expose and deter it. It’s my hope that as consumers share their pain and their stories, they will find a sense of validation and inspire others to do the same.”

The site has experienced phenomenal traffic and growth since its founding in late 2006.  However, as Richardson worked on the upcoming National Consumer Empowerment Conference & Expo to be held in South Florida, the site became swamped and the comments section had to be closed.  With a few tweaks pending, the new website is now operating and once again able to accept comments from its visitors.

“I get flooded with emails and phone calls from people who don't know what to do or where to turn,” says Richardson.   “This website is a great tool to aid consumers when searching for resources and support for their issues, from bankruptcy to identity theft and from credit card interest rates to cyber crime.  We need to let these voices be heard, and this website is the best way to do that.”

The financial industry continues to be the target of growing public concern and outrage. It is easy to find current examples of this outrage against the financial sector. Complaints range from lenders and mortgage servicing companies who won't process loan modifications, to credit cardholders fighting for reasonable interest rates and credit limits, to retailers seeking fair swipe fees, to business owners begging for small credit extensions.  Much of the anger is coming from Americans who feel they are being kicked when they're down—by the very people they bailed out with their taxpayer dollars. Consumers rightly expect fairness and professional courtesy, and they’re just not getting it!

GiveMeBackMyCredit.com hopes to level that playing field—one story at a time.
