The ‘Weight’ is Over

Nov. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Following last year’s successful launch of its next generation compact and versatile CW3 Checkweigher, Loma Systems, leading global suppliers of metal detection, checkweighing and X-ray inspection equipment is proud to launch two additional products to their CW3 range of automatic checkweighers – the CW3 HeavyWeight and the CW3 DragLink.

The Loma CW3 HeavyWeight Checkweigher is a food industry unit designed very specifically for the heavier food items. The machine offers superior accuracy and is especially designed for bag or case weighing up to 60 kgs. It can easily be integrated into high-speed lines with belt speeds up to 50m/min and has the capacity to weigh up to 60ppm.

The machine can handle large products up to 850mm long and 600mm wide and is highly accurate to 1.6g. As well as being efficient, the CW3 HeavyWeight is designed with a small footprint so it takes up as little production line space as possible. The design is easy to clean, having paid keen attention to minimising bug-traps, and the bead-blast surface of the machine is water-repellent to stop cleaning solutions settling.

The CW3 HeavyWeight is very reliable and has been engineered with heavy-duty conveyor components and the highest quality electronics. The glass-free LED indicator stack gives easy red and green signals to show the operators the machine is operational, ensuring that under or over weight products are always rejected.

The Loma CW3 DragLink Checkweigher has been designed to help processors with high production packaging lines. Its unique and cost effective design, consisting of two individual lanes, weighs products simultaneously controlling both lanes from a single panel.



The benefit of such a checkweigher is substantial as weighing higher quantities allows for a much greater production yield, while still maintaining strict quality control of all items processed.

The CW3 DragLink can work at belt speeds up to 120m/min, making it ideal for high throughput production lines.  The robust design means it can also weigh a wide range of flexible and rigid packs sizes up to 6kg to an excellent accuracy of 0.6g.

The machine has the capacity to weigh up to 440ppm and the clever design of the mechanical and electronic parts ensures the highest level of reliability and ease of servicing.


All Loma checkweighers are enhanced by the performance of a highly accurate and stable load cell that maintains stability over extremes of temperature and humidity. Both models are constructed in stainless steel, right down to the bearings and rollers, and will happily endure real-world production line conditions. Each machine meets the IP65 wash down rating so is tough enough for the inevitable intensive cleaning processes needed to maintain strict hygiene standards.

All Loma chechweighing systems benefit from a user-friendly touch screen controls offering simple, multi-lingual operation for a wide variety of operators. With this increased flexibility, both units can easily adapt to new or changing products and pack sizes, and can even be switched to other production lines or manufacturing plants should the need arise. This ability is particularly useful in applications such as contract packaging, where it brings about both a significant reduction in downtime and a major improvement in food product safety.

All Loma checkweighers have a simple USB connection and a PC interface making it easy to produce reports and statistics and to download these either to a memory stick or to a factory network. Both systems will store the product weight details requirements of dozens of products, so that safely changing products on the line is fast and easy.

All the family of products in the CW3 Checkweigher range are fully compatible with Loma’s ground breaking IQ3/ IQ3+ metal detector system, thus all machines can be used simultaneously and controlled using the same user friendly interface panel.
