| Facebook – Changes that will Effect Your News FeedFacebook updates that effect the way you see your news feed.
By: Gail Morrow Now, your News Feed is put together by a Facebook “formula” that determines what it thinks you might like to see. It will include posts that get a lot of comments and how likely you are to interact with that post. It is no longer in chronological order (which I will miss terribly). It also means that posts that are at the top are not necessarily new, but just popular. AND IT also means you are not seeing “Everyone’ Meredith Chin explains to the media, that what you will be seeing is “Live Feed”. That means everything that is happening right now, in the real time. Of course if that were true then we would see our posts in chronological order as before. Ms. Chin says, “Live Feed” defaults to showing your updates from your top 250 based on who and what you interact with most often. I just became a member of “Green Friends”, but the updates are not showing on my live feed because I do not have a history on interacting with that group. So what you have to do is teach Facebook what you would like to see by throwing a few comments or hit LIKE on posts on new pages you follow. If you have 500+ friends, belong to 50+ Fan Pages and a 100+ Groups. There is no way you are going to see every update on your feed. If you want to see all of your Fan Pages, use the left hand navigation menu of your home page to click on the Pages filer – then you’ll see very update. And remember if you the one running the Fan page and/or group that not everyone is going to see your feed. For really important posts you want everyone to see, it would be a good idea to send out an update that would end up in everyone’s inbox. Be very careful when doing this because you do not want to abuse your power and (I’ll use a kind word here) annoy your fans or group members. Use it for the “Amazing News” items. The whole philosophy behind the change was to help the NON-obsessed Facebook users. For the addicted user, it is probably best to leave the News Feed the new way Facebook has set it up, since it is the most accurate real time list and updates, even if everything is not on there. But for the non addicted, they could be missing out on a lot of information and updates that they wanted to see. To help customize your Live Feed, you can click the “Edit Options” link on the bottom of the page, you can change what people or groups are hidden from your News Feed. Hope this helps everyone understand the changes that Facebook has made again. Please leave a comment if this helped.
