Nov. 3, 2009 - PRLog -- After a few frenetic weeks on his book tour John has a tough decision to make. He needs to pick a Luz. He is very interested in Catalina Sandino Moreno who was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar in “Maria Full of Grace.” She will next appear in the Twilight Saga: Eclipse in 2010, but as much as Gorman believes she would be a phenomenal Luz he is thinking about a bigger box office draw.

Enter Megan Fox.

“I know some people might be saying Luz is a part for a young Latina,” Gorman says.

“Penelope Cruz would be great, but she’s a bit too old for the part and Catalina isn’t a household name yet. It’s a shame because I really like her. I’m not going to dismiss her yet, but I need to think about what’s best for the future of this film.”

Between his readings and book signings Gorman slugs back Starbucks Venti-sized coffee like water. He wears his hair straight back and charcoal gray turtleneck top. His Fonzi-styled leather jacket rests on the back of his chair and he squints for a moment like he’s coming up with new ideas for String theory. He’s shied away from any comments that he’d like to play Benny, the lead male, when his book goes to film. Gorman is all business.
But, above all else he is an artist too, a tremendously gifted writer who is almost ready to let go of his short story collection, his follow-up to “Shades of Luz.” There’s a mountain of papers, clippings, and script revisions sitting beside him near his laptop and he looks up every so often after furiously punching away into his keypad.

“I never dreamed there would be this much attention so soon,” Gorman says. “The writing life is misunderstood by most people. The odds of making it are slim to none. But, I’m in this for the long haul and I am here to make waves now. This is why I think Megan Fox would be a great Luz. It’ll be a stretch for her in terms or role. Maybe the two of us will ride this straight to the top. Who knows?”

Gorman takes a big gulp of his coffee then punches into his laptop again.

“I think I have good chance at the racket because I am not afraid of making mistakes,”

Gorman says. “The trouble with most people is that they’re afraid of mistakes. I flop a lot too, but I learn and I go after something 300%. If Megan Fox doesn’t work out I’ll go with somebody else, but this book, this film are going to hit the big-time.”
