By: Vision Dynamics Macular Degeneration is fast approaching epidemic proportions but real help is available now! Charlie Collins, founder and owner of Vision Dynamics, said today “This recession is only one of the many we have faced here at Vision Dynamics in the dozen years we have been in business. Economic cycles come and go but the needs of the ever growing number of people with vision impairments continues to rise.” Government census figures show that as our population continues to increase in size and age Macular Degeneration increases as a threat. Some national health officials consider this a potential crisis approaching epidemic proportions. These vision impairments contribute to other problems. Studies have shown that 40% of hip fractures are attributed to visual impairment. Among approximately 30,000 seniors in Montreal, one out of four has visual impairment. Of this group, 80% are not familiar with nor referred to vision rehabilitation centers. “Now we must be able to grow along with this population and deliver the information that will make them aware of the solutions to their problems.” added Charlie. No one knows better than Charlie, legally blind with Juvenile Macular Degeneration at an early age, that his mission to provide useful tools for people to live happy and independent lives grows more challenging in difficult times. In a bold effort to meet these challenges, Charlie announced today a renewed business plan for his company. “We will increase our efforts throughout Southern New England by adding to our team in CT, MA, RI, NH and VT. We plan to engage local people to address the increased needs of the Southern New England population. We have grown our Internet efforts recently and now we will add to our traditional methods of providing hands-on experience.” A recent survey, done in major retail stores, found that 85% of people make their final decision based on what they learned from the in-store staff even though a majority had done prior research on the Internet. This strengthens the opinion that there is no replacement for a well trained, dedicated advisor especially when one’s decision requires many important factors. Recognizing the need for combining experience in the Internet and other traditional methods Charlie has designated Jack Sheehan, Vision Dynamics Director of Marketing, to lead this effort in recruiting and hiring the new team members. “This is my first attempt to actively recruit and add more visually impaired people to the team that is presently in place. Our already successful staff of Vision Aid Consultants will need help in handling the increase our Internet efforts are producing.” said Jack. “Having the benefit of their personal experiences with vision impairment adds to their ability to relate to our client’s needs. This is a win-win situation for all involved and we welcome all inquiries” The increased number of vision aid products and the vast improvements in them make the availability of a hands-on experience much more important than it has ever been. The Vision Dynamics store provides this for all.
