By: Datek CAN-bus systems are becoming increasingly popular. Easier installations with less cables is one of the reasons for its success, safe and reliable data transfer is another. There hardly exists any vehicles today without a CAN-bus, and it is also becoming more and more common in the automation and construction industries. CAN only specifies the framework for the hardware and data transmission. The standard does not cover how the actual communication between different entries on the bus should be conducted. In order to avoid a myriad of custom CAN bus implementations, the CANopen standard was developed. CANopen is a general-purpose standard which specifies how the communication takes place, and how the systems on the bus should be configured. It has become the most successful standard for CAN. Datek D6003B receiver As the first manufacturer of radio remote controls, Datek releases a fully certified CANopen system: the D6003B fieldbus receiver. The system has been audited and approved by the notified body CAN In Automation (C.i.A), which is the neutral non-profit organization that owns and maintains the CANopen standard. Through the conformance test needed for certification, every aspect of the CANopen system is checked in detail, ensuring that it lives up to all requirements of the standard. Traditionally, radio remotes with CANopen have either been delivered with an expensive gateway to handle the fieldbus safety for them, or they have implemented a non-certified solution which may contain compatibility issues and latent safety flaws. By developing the D6003B CANopen receiver in-house, Datek has eliminated the need of a gateway while at the same time ensuring that the company possesses the in-depth knowledge needed to fully support their customers. By the certification, Datek also got a third party verification of the systems safe and reliable performance. The Datek D6003B receiver implements the DS 401 device profile for generic I/O modules. - All PDOs have fully configurable COBID, transmission type, inhibit time, event timer and sync support. - Save/load functionality though object dictionary 1010h and 1011h. - Supports Heartbeat producer/consumer and Node Guarding / Life Guarding. - EDS available. # # # Datek is a Pioneer within safe radio remote control systems for industrial usage. Already in 1979 the company released its first system; it was the first system in the world to be equipped with a digitally verified protocol. The company’s product range covers everything from small hand held transmitter to more advanced joystick transmitters with graphic display and two-way communication.
