LBi Atlanta Launches All-New BoardingSchools.com for The Association of Boarding Schools

ATLANTA, October 5, 2009 – Top digital agency LBi Atlanta has launched an all-new web site for The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) at http://www.boardingschools.com.  Tasked with creating an ideal digital platform for information seekers, the new site offers exclusive video content, powerful school search tools, custom content for students and families researching boarding schools, and marketing support for TABS’ network of nearly 300 member schools.

BoardingSchools.com is designed to truly drive measurable value on both sides of the equation. Young people and families will be better equipped to make informed educational choices, and schools will be better able to recruit the best and brightest young students.

To achieve the Asheville-based organization’s objectives, LBi delivered a comprehensive scope of services for the project, from front-end Flash design, video production, and content development, to back-end search engine and e-commerce functionalities. The result is a rich selection of resources for each distinct audience including:

•   Exclusive Video Content – A unique series of videos provides viewers with an insider’s view of boarding school life, including interviews with current boarding school students, teachers, and alumni.
•   Robust Browsing Tools – A powerful “School Browser” allows visitors to search schools in a variety of custom ways — by geographic distance, least to most populous, gender ratios, and oldest to newest. An additional “Guided Search” option allows users to provide even more targeted interests, such as courses, arts, and athletic interests.
•   Tailored Content for Parents & Students – Separate sections designed exclusively for students and their parents. Content in both sections includes narrative overviews of the boarding school experience, discussions of key boarding school advantages, and information on boarding school history and notable alumni.
•   Marketing Research & Support for Schools – A wealth of content in the “For Schools” section of the site, including professional development resources and information about TABS annual conference and Asia Fairs program, as well as boarding school research, an articles database, recent community news, and sponsorship information.
•   Premium Access to TABS Member Community – Members-only access to a rich community of nearly 300 member schools and a range of relevant resources, such as member forums and discussion groups, a TABS resource Library, tools for contacting colleagues, as well as real-time profile editing for school administrators.
•   Interactive Event Calendar – A comprehensive interactive calendar for information on all of TABS offline activities, including its annual conference, Asia Fairs, school administrator workshops, and annual directory release dates.

“We’re very excited to offer this new site to the public and our member community,” said TABS Executive Director Peter Upham. “We believe we now have the best resource on the web for information on boarding schools and boarding school life. For families thinking about boarding schools, the site is the perfect place to learn about boarding schools and make first contact with schools of interest”.

Upham added:  “For schools themselves, there’s no better place to showcase their strengths and access a wealth of year-round marketing and professional development support”

“This is a great accomplishment for us,” said LBi Atlanta Vice President of Client Development Mike Gelfond. “We believe the new TABS site will soon be recognized as the definitive resource for families looking for reliable information about the boarding school experience—and for the schools hoping to reach them.”

LBi also augmented the association’s new site launch with a strong social networking play across Facebook and Twitter.
•   The Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/TABSorg-The-Association-of-...) provides an array of TABS-related content. Viewers can become a fan of TABS; view its favorites page, including a variety of regional boarding school associations; follow links to Executive Director Pete Upham’s Twitter feed; and see upcoming TABS sponsored events.
•   The Twitter feed is found at http://www.twitter.com/TABSorg, and lets users follow TABS and its frequent updates about the organization and its activities, including updates from Upham.
