Follow on Google News | One Man's Plan to eradicate childhood hunger with one dollar per monthFeed Washington's President and Founder, Eirik Olsen, plans to eradicate childhood hunger in Washington State with his unique, grassroots business model.
By: Feed Washington Recurring donations are the foundation of Eirik’s business model. Passionate about his mission to feed hungry children, Eirik started his fund raising efforts by asking donations from family, friends, and then associates. “I asked them how much can you give on a monthly basis without feeling any pain. Is ten dollars too much, how about five? Can you donate one dollar a month? I wanted everyone to be able to afford to donate every month, regardless of the economic climate.” While one-time donations are gladly accepted, Feed Washington is seeking recurring, one dollar per month donations. Whenever possible, they seek matching funds and other creative opportunities to multiply the meals-per-dollar impact of the donation. Donor and friend, Derek Bunyard, finds the credit card donation method painless. “I don’t even notice an impact on my personal finances. I’m inspired to be a part of a grassroots movement where I’m only asked to pitch in a small amount on a monthly basis. And as a part of a group, I am making a serious impact on hunger.” Feed Washington, a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, is dedicated to feeding children. The organization was established in 2004 and has provided 352,210 meals to various non-profit organizations and food banks. If you are a non-profit involved in feeding children and need help, or if you would like to donate, contact Feed Washington at 206-267-8322 or visit their website www.feedwashington.org. End
