Celebrating American Artists At Baterbys Art Exhibit, The First Of Its Kind In Orlando, Fl

Limited and notable works of art by renowned American Master Painters like Peter Max, Andrew Wyeth, Leroy Neiman, William Nelson and Ken Keeley, amongst others, will be displayed and sold for the first time in an Orlando Art Gallery.

Sept. 29, 2009 - PRLog -- The Art Market has had its high's and low's this year. Most of these shifts in overall performance are due to the ambiguous nature of the market. In simple terms, this volatility can be narrowly attributed to a handful of buyer group's tastes and preferences. So if one class, genre or kind of art is no longer adored by these elite classes of art collectors and art connoisseurs, it may become the deadweight that eventually sinks the art market. In retail terms they'll either be moved out of the shelves or discounted below their current value.

Nonetheless, the art market maintains a steady (and growing) affection for some iconic artists whose works and technical contributions to various art movements have cemented their status as "masters". These artists have surpassed being easily affected by a particular buyer group's whims. Picasso, Dali, Miro, Chagall, Goya and Warhol are just some front liners belonging to this indomitable rank.

Baterbys Art Gallery is celebrating the achievements of these art masters who have definitively shaped the art landscape through their ingenuity and creativity. More specifically, Baterbys is zeroing in on American Masters who have remained "unsinkable" throughout the market's erratic movements.

For the first time in the city of Orlando, Baterbys will showcase some of these "master works". From October 2 to 10, at their gallery in Pointe Orlando, Baterbys will pay their tribute to some of these American Masters. Opening night on October 2 is open to all. On the other hand, those who RSVP through Baterbys.com will be entered into a raffle draw to win prizes such as limited edition art prints by some of these American Masters.

Here are some of the featured artists:

PETER MAX - Peter Max's work is a protean display of unabashed freedom. His paintings are visual time machines that transport those in their 40's (or above) to the heydays of the Beatles, Woodstock and the Brady Bunch. Yet, he is not one of those artists who only "belong to the past". As much as his work takes some people on a nostalgic sojourn back to their rock and roll days, the confidence of his bold brush strokes, delicate contours and outbursts of bright colors resonate with anyone who simply want to get "high on art".

LEROY NEIMAN - The majority of Neiman's paintings focus on sports -- some two dozen of them, ranging from basketball, boxing, billiards, and hockey to gymnastics, shot put, swimming, and cycling. Rarely did he paint pieces (such as some artworks that will displayed and available for sale at the exhibit) that were outside the subjects that put his name on the art world pedestal. Some of these rare pieces will be featured in the exhibit and will be on sale for astoundingly low prices.

WILLIAM NELSON - William Nelson had been commissioned by the United States Olympic Committee to be the official and exclusive artist for the Olympiad. Later on, he was chosen by the U.S. Congress to paint “A Bicentennial History Of the United States” which is now in display at the Smithsonian Institute. Nelson’s works are now being displayed in The National Museum of Art, The White House, and countless private collections in the country. For the first time, his artworks will be displayed and sold in Orlando, FL at Baterbys!.

KEN KEELEY- Ken Keeley is one of the leading Photo realists of our time. He is known for his realistic and periodic depictions of New York City’s most iconic scenes and has been heralded as one of the most notable artists of the movement. His works have been showcased in renowned museums like the Whitney Museum of Art and have been part of numerous Art Expos in major cities like Miami, New York and San Francisco. There are also companies that own some of his collections: Macy’s Department Store (featured in one of Keeley’s works, “Choc-Full-of-Nuts”) owns an entire Keeley collection.

ANDREW WYETH - Much of Andrew Wyeth's rebelliousness against art culture in his time was due to early influences from his father, N.C. Wyeth. N.C. Wyeth was a famous illustrator whose drawings for books such as Treasure Island, Robin Hood, and The Legends of King Arthur are well known. Andrew was trained by his father from an early age. At fourteen Andrew's father would take him into his studio and teach him in drawing and construction; Wyeth's career began with technical equipment that most artists acquire after years of study.
