Sept. 29, 2009 - PRLog -- St. Petersburg, FL, Sterile Trehalose Solution is a 1M solution produced from Life Sciences’ molecular biology grade of trehalose dihydrate. The solution is filtered through a 0.2 micron filter, is > 99% pure and certified negative for RNase and DNase. Endotoxin level meets the same specification as WFI, < 0.25 EU/mL. Sterile Trehalose Solution offers the advantage that users will not have to develop and validate their own procedures to convert trehalose dihydrate to a useable form.

Trehalose is well known as a stabilizer for proteins and cells, providing protection from the stresses of heat, cold and dehydration.  On-going R&D shows that trehalose containing preparations have promise in stabilization of tissues and organs for transplantation. This non-reducing sugar is in commercial use in reagent systems to stabilize enzymes and other bioactive proteins and as an excipient in some protein-based pharmaceuticals. Trehalose is a preferred stabilizer in many applications because it is broadly effective and has minimal chemical interaction with other substances.

Trehalose solutions and trehalose dihydrate powder are available in research or manufacturing quantities, from Life Sciences, Inc., 2900 - 72 St. North, St .Petersburg, FL 33773. For a data sheet or other information, please contact Jon West at jwest@lifesci.com.
