Follow on Google News | ![]() World Trader Coffee Announces Top Selling Coffees for First Half of 2009World Trader Coffee, an online retailer of premium coffees, announced its top selling coffees for the first half of 2009. The top coffees include Indonesian and African coffees as well as several Peaberry coffee varieties.
Here are the ten top selling coffees (in rank order): 1. Celebes Sulawesi 2. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe 3. Tanzanian Peaberry 4. Kenya AA 5. Kenyan Peaberry 6. Jamaica Blue Mountain Peaberry 7. Costa Rican Don Roberto Tarrazu 8. Guatemalan Antigua 9. Costa Rican Peaberry 10. Tanzanian Coffee World Trader Coffee believes that aggressive pricing on Celebes Sulawesi and Ethiopian Yirgacheffe catapulted them to the top of the list as consumers placed a priority on value pricing in making their coffee selections. On the other hand, four Peaberry coffee varieties, which sell at a higher price than regular coffee beans, continued to be in demand by coffee enthusiasts. Indeed, one surprise is that the Peaberry variety of the relatively expensive Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee made the top selling list. A Peaberry coffee is formed when a single bean, rather than two beans, are formed and is said to result in a more flavorful cup of coffee. On the other hand, no surprise that African coffees made the strongest regional showing -- with five coffees making the top selling list. Coffee drinkers continue to savor African coffees for their strong bold taste. Central American coffees also continue to grow in popularity with Costa Rican Tarrazu and Guatemalan Antigua making the list. Although they did not break into the top sellers list, both the regular and Peaberry varieties of our El Salvador coffee from the Santa Barbara Estate are quickly gaining traction with coffee drinkers. Another up and coming coffee is the delicious Cameroon Boyo from West Africa.
