This article will take you through the process of using head sweatbands as a promotional product. All the way from good design practices to uses at the event itself.

Sept. 21, 2009 - PRLog -- How to design your logo –best practices

When designing a logo for your headbands there should be one thing on your mind: simplicity. The more simple your logo is the better people will respond to it. By respond, I don’t necessarily mean that they will say something but it may be unconscious. They will be able to easily store a mental picture of what they are seeing, instead of chaos, which they will most likely forget. Consider all the greatest brands in the world, one thing they all have in common is a simple logo. This is not a coincidence. People like and remember things simple, whether they will admit it or not. If you have a complex logo already, you’re not out of the woods. Complex logos are still possible by using a method called heat printing. Personally, I recommend embroidery over heat printing for head sweatbands. We’ll get into that discussion later. You should use no more than 3 colors on your logo, if you can do it one color that may stick out the most. A thing to keep in mind is that your head sweatbands will live on in social network pictures for many years.

Embroidery vs. Heat Printing – what should you choose

Embroidery basically means your design will be sewn directly onto your head bands. If your logo is simple enough to embroider than I would recommend that. The reason is because it is more durable when washing and the logo will not fade.  However, with heat printing technology almost any logo is possible, which is very nice. I recommend heat printing for a head sweatband that will only be used once with a very complex logo. The only other downside to heat printing is a lot of companies usually have a high minimum order because of the expensive digitizing process.  So, in essence you will be spending more money and might only be able to use the product once or twice. The life span of an embroidered headband is unlimited, it can be washed a number of time and the logo will be unaffected.

Planning out your event – where to use your promotional items

Custom head sweatbands should be given out at your event for free. The best types of events are ones that are outside, based on sports, musicians, or a fun cause. You want to make your presence known by giving out many head sweatbands at once. Make sure these people put them on, even if you have to tell them to. Almost all the people receiving the headband will put it on, especially if it is a hot day.  If you have an MC than it is also ok to give them the headbands to throw out to the crowd in-between acts. This actually works very well for generating crowd excitement and is overall a nice thing to do. By the time the event comes to an end nearly everyone will be wearing your head sweatbands giving your cause an awesome promotion.

Customized Head Sweatbands

Customized head sweatbands are best when cotton and embroidered. Though many companies have a lot of different options they will throw at you, it is best to go as basic as possible. When it comes to a promotional campaign the more you think simple the better the results you will get. As mentioned earlier the majority of people respond better and remember a simple logo more than they would a complex one. Your job is to condense complexity, cost, and the amount of people not wearing headbands!
