To deliver $38B in infrastructure projects and initiatives – the largest investment in state’s history – the Victorian Government will need to focus on project delivery methods that demonstrate value-for-money, drive exceptional performance, and deliver continuous improvement. Namely: the Alliance Contact Model.

Recent studies have shown the Alliance contracting model delivers under budget and time, in more than 80 percent of cases – providing a valuable flow-on-effect to the general economy during rough times. The Alliancing Association of Australia (AAA) commissioned the study which demonstrated that alliance projects offer significant time, cost and risk sharing benefits.

To this avail, governments will roll out massive infrastructure projects over the next few years as a provision of May’s Federal budget. “The Victorian Transport Plan provides a significant economic boost to the State now and into the future – with new investment and thousands of direct and indirect jobs”, John Brumby, Premier of Victoria.

A project alliance is where one or more ‘owners’ form a collaborative arrangement with one or more ‘service providers’ for the purpose of delivering a specific project. Tim Pallas, Minster for Roads and Ports - Victoria, is adamant that by employing an Alliance contracting method for various VTP projects, the government will deliver on their commitments to the Victorian people.

Tim Pallas, will feature at IQPC Australia’s Alliance Contracting Excellence Summit in Sydney this November. His presentation will include an update on the VTP plan, and valuable insights to the alliance contracting community.

Joining him will be industry leaders and alliance experts including; Nick Tamburro, Dept Treasury and Finance (VIC), Kieran Lynch, Dept of Transport and Main Roads (QLD), and Bob Vickers, Abigroup Contractors.
