Gold diggers warning from Ramsdens

Aug. 18, 2009 - PRLog -- A well-known pawnbroking business is warning Hartlepool residents to beware of door to door goldbuyers operating in the town.

Ramsdens Financial Services, whose York Road shop is one of more than 40 across the North East and Scotland, says callers offering money for jewellery are using the name of one of its trading websites – Gotgoldgetcash – even though they have no links with the company.

Ramsdens’ CEO, Peter Kenyon, fears householders might hand over precious items in the belief that they are dealing with a reputable firm and will therefore get a good deal.

“The price of gold is very high at the moment, so second hand gold jewellery can be worth a lot of money, because of the recession, more people than ever are considering trading in their rings, necklaces and watches.

“Unfortunately, this seems to have led to the appearance of disreputable buyers operating on the streets, keen to make the most of the current trading climate.  We just want to advise the public to ensure they use a buyer they know and can trust.”
