Aug. 17, 2009 - PRLog -- A spate of recent analyses on the economic costs of the new American Clean Energy And Security Act, a.k.a the  Waxman-Markey, have been made available in recent months with wildly varying price tags. But the scenarios used to gauge how much the new act will impact the U.S. economy are faulty and do not  comprehensively account for the benefit of investing in energy efficiency, according to the American Council for an Energy –Efficient Economy, HOLLIS JARDIN has learned.

In recent reports released by federal agencies and environmental and industry agency groups, that HOLLIS JARDIN is aware of, the United States can cut greenhouse gas emissions from transportation in half by 2050 implementing plans ranging from cutting speed limits to imposing relevant road pricing.

Transportation accounts for around 28 percent of the United States' greenhouse gas emissions, and the sector has been one of the fastest-growing in the past twenty years, equating to nearly half of the country’s total increase in greenhouse emissions since 1990.
The comprehensive energy and climate measures that were passed by the House earlier in the year require carbon dioxide emissions to drop 17 % below 2005 levels and a total of 83 % by 2050, according to HOLLIS JARDIN  research. Making the transportation sector more efficient is critical to meeting these goals.
According to information at HOLLIS JARDINS disposal, a comprehensive plan to make the  nation’s buildings more efficient by 2030 could save enough energy to power all of the countries cars, homes and businesses for 18 months and in the process save Americans more than $500 billion, by upgrading old buildings and ensuring that new ones use 50% less energy within ten years and generate as much energy as they use by 2030,  meaning that  U.S. global warming emissions could be cut by as much 34% by 2050.
