Aug. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- The Arc of Butler County established an endowment at the Community Foundation of Greater Butler County.

The leadership at the Arc of Butler County, after exploring options for establishing an agency designated fund, is pleased with their decision that allows donors to make tax deductible gifts to a cause they deeply believe in. The Community Foundation provides what the leadership of Arc was looking for – professional, cause supportive staff; investment strategies with a financial management team; and the structure of a fund that will be available to support the needs of Arc generation, after generation.

The Arc’s purpose is to advocate for the rights and full participation of all children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The local chapter helps improve systems of supports and services: connect families; inspire communities and influence public policy. This is no easy task with the growing challenges faced with educational budgets down and the growing demands on our families to keep pace with the economy. Bringing forward the start up gift to establish the Endowment, the leadership of Arc hopes they can inspire donors to consider making a gift. Growing the endowment will ultimately be a way to ensure dollars are available through annual distribution to support the good work being done at Arc of Butler County.

“It is a perfect time for a nonprofit agency like Arc of Butler County to establish a permanent endowment” said Angie Baur, CEO of the Community Foundation. She went on to say that the commingled asset pool the Community Foundation offers can allow an investment like this to grow more rapidly. The Community Foundation is an excellent partner for fund design that meets the needs of individuals, families and organizations. A foundation ensures the intent of the donor fund is fulfilled and that charitable interests are always kept in the forefront of giving.

Dave Matthews, the President of Arc of Butler County and loving parent shared, “we are here to serve those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and hope that many in Butler County and beyond will contribute to the ARC endowment to allow people to continually be served year after year.  Special Olympics, Circle of Friends and the Arc tennis program are a large part of our budget.” He further added “we are pleased to be a part of the Community Foundation of Butler County."
