New information platform for German High School students

July 30, 2009 - PRLog -- The German secondary, pre-university schooling period is changing from 9 to 8 years, reducing the length of general schooling before entrance to university to 12 instead of 13 years. The high school students going through this phase belong to the so called “Generation G8”. G8 standing for 8 years of Gymnasium.

The changes made in the education system have its advantages, but also lead to the effect of doubling of German school-leavers with a university entrance qualification. This will happen on a yearly basis rolling through several German states starting in 2008 and ending in 2016.

Even now, high school students and their parents feel and fear the competition in the search for an apprenticeship position or study place. Despite the fact that the government is searching for a possible solution, it is already obvious that the changes made in the German education system will lead to a shortage of study places. That’s why the German high school students are advised to start early with their information process.

The new website, http://www.generation-g8.de, which was launched by border concepts on the 1st of June 2009, will help the so called “Generation G8” in their orientation process. Its aim is to provide this target group with information on studying in Germany, studying abroad, jobs & internships, languages courses, work & travel, etc.
