Holiday Makers Step Out In Style

July 21, 2009 - PRLog -- Holidaymakers enjoying the delights of a stay at  Pontin’s Brean Sands Holiday Park, Burnham on Sea, Somerset can step out in even more style on  newly installed floors as phase one of the refurbishment programme, which is part of a £50 million, four year redevelopment of  all the Holiday Parks,  is completed in time for the summer season.

Flooring specialist Rudge Brothers and James has just completed a contract to replace several worn floors in the bars and family entertainment room in one of the slickest operations ever carried out by RBJ - the old wooden floor in the Holiday Park’s Queen Victoria family bar was stripped out and replaced in just 24 hours. The old flooring to the bar had become damaged and slippery over the years of use.

Rudge Brothers and James’ Jim Heal Jnr said: “We worked throughout the night with the intention of getting the floor replaced with the minimum disruption to holidaymakers – and we succeeded.”

He continued, “The old timber floor was stripped out as soon as the bar closed on a Saturday evening and by the early hours of Sunday we were sanding and priming the concrete under floor and then laying the new wood effect Karndean vinyl floor covering. It all went very sweetly.”

Rudge Brothers and James of St Philips, Bristol, fitted Karndean’s Van Gough wood plank flooring in a natural oak colour, before sealing it and adding a slip resistant polish.

Mr Heal added: “When Pontin’s decided to renovate, they knew they needed to consider different flooring options for several reasons. The first was hygiene - they needed a floor that could be easily cleaned, especially of food and drink spillages.”

“The flooring also needed to be durable, not only to withstand the heavy traffic coming in and out of the bar, but also the constant movement of tables and chairs. Finally, the floor had to be stylish and complement the mood and feel of the space.”

Interior designers, Louise Osman Interiors, researched the options and the Karndean met all of the requirements and is available in so many different designs and ranges.
Louise Osman said: “The flooring looked perfect and worked well with the fresh, modern appearance of the bar ready for the busy season ahead. The Karndean complements both the interior design and the choice of furniture and adds a sleek and stylish new dimension to the venue.”
