July 20, 2009 - PRLog -- The event started on Monday, June 8th and finished on Saturday, June 13th with 500 to 600 teams competing each day. There were 21 states represented including contestants from as far away as California, Florida and Wisconsin.

One of the highlights of the event was the State Extravaganza which was a competition to award the top contestants from each State.  These top State contestants made up 6 State teams and went head to head with 13 States for 6 Vinton Saddles and the pride of being the BestRanchSortingState in the United States!

After the 1st round it was narrowed down to Arkansas, Missouri and Nebraska. After the final round there was a tie between Arkansas and Missouri so a tie breaker run off was established and Missouri took home the honors and 6 brand new Vinton Saddles! Congratulations Missouri!

Another highlight of the event was the enforcement of a draw entry by all contestants that entered a team. This opened the door for everyone to meet new friends and make new partners who they would not have previously known. After review of the final results, there will obviously be more contestants drawing teams than picking teams next year. Here is just a fractional list of draw team winners.

In addition to the great success all the draw teams had, RSNC put up an additional $200 for the highest placing draw team in every class. The atmosphere was terrific with prizes such as Saddles, RSNC Vests and 4 Huge bags of money totaling $5,000 hanging from the ceiling.

Each evening the event concluded at 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. and the RSNC staff provided evening meals so contestants could gather around and tell exaggerated stories of how great they did or how great they should have done.

The sport of Ranch Sorting has exploded and RSNC is proud to be a part of it.
