Remembering the Brother He Never Really Knew

A Requiem for Neil is a poignant true story. It is the remembrance by Hemchand Gossai of his brother, Neil, who died young and will always remain young in his heart.

July 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Neil was born mentally challenged. He never learned to speak and was never able to enter society. Although he grew physically strong, he never grew mentally, so Gossai never really knew his brother. They could not speak with each other or play together. They never showed affection and no photographs were ever taken of Neil. “I am not sure which is worse, that I never hugged him or that it never occurred to me that he should be hugged,” Gossai says. So how do you remember someone like that?

Gossai remembers a brother who others called mad, yet he remembers Neil with nostalgia. This book is a stunning tribute to the boy he never knew, a person who lived in the shadows and who died without a voice. This wonderful story will find a place in your heart as Gossai becomes his brother’s voice in A Requiem for Neil.
