MUMC in Savannah Named ‘Most Wired’ for Tenth Consecutive Year

July 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) in Savannah, Georgia, has been named one of the nation’s 100 Most Wired hospitals for the tenth consecutive year. The results were announced in the July 2009 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine, the journal of the American Hospital Association. The annual survey examines 1,314 of the nation’s hospitals on their use of Internet technologies for quality, customer service, public health and safety, business processes, and workforce issues. Memorial is one of only three hospitals in Georgia to receive the Most Wired designation this year.

Most Wired hospitals show better outcomes in patient satisfaction, risk-adjusted mortality rates, and other key quality measures through the use of information technology (I.T.), according to a new analysis.
“As the health reform debate continues, it’s clear that I.T. will play an even more important role in the health system of tomorrow,” says Rich Umbdenstock, president and CEO of the American Hospital Association. “Most Wired hospitals help illustrate I.T. in action – improving efficiency, quality, and safety of care while helping to control costs.”
