Conservation Agency’s Permits Goes “Green” to Save Gopher Tortoises

July 7, 2009 - PRLog -- Florida’s gopher tortoises are breathing a little easier these days.  

This threatened species is benefiting from AAJ Technologies (www.aajtech.com) online permit system developed for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (www.floridaconservation.org).  This online permit system is available to those who want to relocate the gopher tortoises and certify their land as a short-term or long-term protected recipient site.  

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is encouraging applicants to “go green” by using the new online application to shorten processing time, ensuring the safety of the gopher tortoises found in 67 Florida counties.  The paperless system advances the Agency’s “green” efforts, promoting stewardship among Florida residents.  

The online permit system was designed to speed up the application process for FWC to review and grant approvals faster which will in turn decrease the deaths of the threatened gopher tortoises.  The AAJ Technologies project team focused on creating a system that completely automates FWC’s criteria for permit approval.
