By: Adrian Wilkinson The system is designed to detect and capture images of all vehicles entering the restricted area. The images are then transferred immediately to the back office where they can be filtered and, if necessary, penalties issued. The system utilizes the same laser based technology (LIDAR) as PoliScanspeed. As a result VITRONIC has created the world’s first ‘special lane’ enforcement system without the need for in-road equipments such as loops and/or sensors. By removing physical obstructions such as bollards and barriers traffic flow is improved and public safety increased. The system can be installed in sensitive areas such as school zones and airports, even multi-lane roads.
