International Contact Produces Ovarian Cancer Video in Spanish and Chinese

International Contact, Inc. was tapped by the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition to translate its’ most recent video to help fulfill its mission of improving the survival rate and quality of life for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

July 6, 2009 - PRLog -- Limited English-speaking populations who confront the catastrophic diagnosis of ovarian cancer are even more distanced from resources that provide information and assistance than the general population. Recognizing the urgent need to offer their support services to deprived women and families without language access to available resources, the NOCC approached International Contact, a leading multilanguage communications firm based in Oakland, California because of its 27-year track record providing foreign language video production.

International Contact Inc. has assembled the best native-speaking talent, so the client’s video can be produced in virtually all foreign languages with the same high quality as the English original. Through its Foreign Language Talent Division, International Contact provides online voice samples so the client can listen to the voices and select the most appropriate native speaker to replace the dialogue on the English tracks.

The narration for International Contact’s foreign language productions is localized by native speaker familiar with the subject matter: in NOCC’s “Surviving Ovarian Cancer” the translators were experienced in medical terminology. The director at the dialogue replacement session is also a native speaker of each of the languages, who applauded the production in language of such an uplifting as well as down-to-earth approach to dealing with an ovarian cancer diagnosis.

“Providing factual, no-nonsense, yet hopeful information is a boon to communities who would otherwise not be able to benefit from these resources,” said Carla Itzkowich, executive director of International Contact. “It extends the reach of NOCC’s mission to populations that wouldn’t have access to it.”

The localization of NOCC’s “Surviving Ovarian Cancer” adds to the long list in of video productions for corporations and government agencies highlighting services as varied as the introduction of the new currency bills for the U.S. Treasury, the launch of Microsoft’s new operating system, or Glencoe Teen Health discs for junior high schools that International Contact has produced over 27 years in business.
