By: Mark 5 Films Sounds corny? Read on... Gone are the days when the only link between the common man and cinema was a serial numbered movie ticket. Television brought the box office home, and now Mark 5 Films is making cinema into an individual’s personalised statement, just like your mobile phones. "We help the commoners and other film enthusiasts to make their own films and give them the chance to be like any great actor or director", Says Mark 5 Films, an executive. And such is the endeavour of the organisation, as they are not only in the business of making movies, but making movies of countless out there, hoping to have fling with showbiz. Since the launch of their cine club, aptly called Club 5 (Yes, Five is the new Number One), in July 2005, they have been conducting Filmmaking and Acting workshops for novices and providing them with a chance to make their own films. Eminent people from film industry partake in these workshops to teach the participants about the nuances of filmmaking. Post filmmaking workshops, participants are provided with all needful resources and expertise to make their own films, to be viewed and enjoys by junta. Already with their 17th batch of red carpet aspirants , Mark 5 Films has come long way, with a Filmmaking camp and festival in the pipeline. The cine club is also expanding into the field of recruitment and on-floor training for advance-level learners. Mehul Suri, Creative Director, Mark 5 Films says, " some of our brood have been placed in top TV channels, some of them chose film schools in India as well as abroad and some of them already in Mumbai and they know now what to do and how" And if the member's platter is not full already, Mark 5 Films is going for extra trimmings. "There is a film library cum archive in the offing, which will hold world class specimens of cinema, for the use and perusal of the members" says Gunjan Taneja partner M 5 F. The task at hand is huge, but the rewards are mani-fold. Imagine a cinema that is not only for the people or of the people, but also by the people. With mobile phones going from a luxury commodity to neccessity, is the showbiz far behind? "Why not!”, concludes Mark 5 Films Director businees development, Vikram Khattar. And says "RHIGHTY-HO!"
