Continental Wind Power to Establish U.S. Wind Turbine Manufacturing & Development Center in Calif

July 1, 2009 - PRLog -- Santa Paula, California—Continental Wind Power announced today that it will establish its U.S. wind turbine manufacturing and development center in Santa Paula, California eventually creating more than 300-500 new green-collar jobs here in California.  Several of Continental's component suppliers have decided to co-locate in Santa Paula as well.

The landing of Continental Wind Power's wind turbine manufacturing and development center deserves particular attention, as it is proof of what Santa Paula's temperate lifestyle, open acreage, and eco-rich resources can attract to California. The City's success in attracting this company serving the green industry is clear evidence of the success of the recent efforts expended to attract new businesses to the area” Fernandez added.  

The Continental Wind Power facility will focus on manufacturing medium size 300-900 kilowatt wind turbines.  These wind turbines will be extremely reliable and highly efficient and will operate in much smaller installations compared to the larger wind turbines made by most other manufacturers today.  Due to the smaller size of Continental Wind Power's wind turbines and wind farms, more people than ever before will have the opportunity to invest in wind energy. Continental Wind Power will begin production of their wind turbines in 2010 that are slated for installation at wind farms at the end of 2010 and into 2011 and beyond.

Through the Fossil Free by '33 campaign, the Santa Barbara Community Environmental Council has challenged California's Tri-County region, and is also encouraging Santa Paula, to set an example for our nation and the world by ending its dependence on fossil fuels, and to meet its needs through conservation and renewable resources, such as solar, wind and wave energy.  “Continental Wind Power will enable us to promote more Fossil Free businesses in Ventura County,” Fernandez said.

The City of Santa Paula is working closely to assist Continental Wind Power in identifying a final location for its manufacturing plant.  The City and Continental Wind Power hope to announce the location of this facility in the next sixty to ninety days.  In the meantime, Continental Wind Power will open an administrative office in Santa Paula this Summer and begin recruiting local Santa Paulans and others to work in the manufacturing plant.

The event welcoming Continental Wind Power to the City of Santa Paula will be announced in front of Santa Paula City Hall with community leaders at 1:30pm, Friday, June 30, 2009.  Invitations have been sent and the public is invited to attend and learn more about this wonderful resource and renewable energy business coming to our City and to Ventura County.
