June 23, 2009 - PRLog -- Cary, N.C. – Strategic Guru, a full service strategic marketing agency, has announced A & S Computer Services, Inc. (www.ascomputer.com), a technology management and consulting firm based in Wake Forest, is the winner of the Worst Website Ever contest and will receive a prize package worth $9000.  ASAP Office Supply Inc. (www.asapofficesupply.com), a woman-owned full service office products dealer located in Raleigh, was a close second and has won website services worth $5000. The winners were chosen in an internet poll conducted at the contest site (www.myworstwebsite.com).

The contest, which began June 1st with a call for entries, was launched with the goal of finding the business or organization whose website is most in need of a makeover. The prize, valued at $9,000, includes design, copy editing, development, and search engine optimization.

Voting began on Tuesday, June 16th, and ended on Friday, June 19th. In just four days, a total of 13,996 votes were cast. A & S Computer Services earned 6867 votes, 49% of the total. ASAP Office Supply Inc. received 6380 votes, 46% of the total. The poll was ranked as one of the week’s most popular polls by PollDaddy.com.

“I’m honored to be the winner,” said Dave Sroelov, owner of A & S Computer Services. “We had voters in six states and four countries helping us to win. I look forward to the day that I am known as the owner of the best website ever!”

“Who says being ugly is a bad thing?” said Carrie Mitchell, owner of ASAP Office Supply. “We just won a great prize package that voters thought was well-deserved! All of us at ASAP are looking forward to our new look and especially to the benefits the new look will provide our customers.”

“Voting for these two companies was so close, at times within 50 to 100 votes from each other. We just couldn’t let all that drive and effort go to waste,” said Carolyn Rhinebarger, Strategic Guru’s Chief Brainstormer. “We decided to give the runner up a consolation prize with the goal of helping two local firms boost their business through new and improved web sites.”
