Spa-trepreneur- local RN opens new spa Guilford, CT
Spa-trepreneur This self appointed skin guru couldn’t find the perfect blend of a day and medical spa, so she designed it herself. YOLO aesthetic boutique is making the Connecticut spa scene a lot brighter.

If you’re like many of today’s women (and men!) you’ve undoubtedly questioned the ambiance, overall mood and customer service of many spas-the cloying wave sounds, the questioning flute music, or the clinical treatment rooms of most medical spas.
YOLO Aesthetic Boutique owner, Nikki Rasmussen, felt exactly the same way. Those are some of the reasons why this self-proclaimed skin guru found herself dreaming of a different kind of spa. My first concept was to have a day spa that “does delivery”, the concept is doing quite well, however I felt that YOLO needed a home, so that I could expand upon the services offered. Not a single detail was overlooked as Nikki brought her energetic, lively concept to life: Trash cans are pink, vibrant colors are on the walls, an original 1920’s vintage couch all add to a fun inviting atmosphere. The music also plays a huge role. Each treatment room is equipped with an iPod docking station so clients can either bring their own tunes (whales be gone!) or request a playlist. On any given day, Lou Reed or The Who can be heard playing in the reception area, along with an up and coming artist whose CD’s are available to purchase.
Nikki paid special attention to choosing products that were “earth friendly” in the design, the flooring is all eco-conscious, the cups are corn based and biodegradable, and YOLO utilizes WOW Green cleaning products and is also a distributor. “It was important to me that YOLO was designed in a way to have the least negative impact on the environment”
least negative impact on the environment”
YOLO has diverse offerings including facials, massage, and waxing, as well as Laser treatments and the latest in Non surgical Rejuvenation. We also have Fantasy Tan spray tan, because the only safe tan is a FAKE tan. As a beauty product fanatic, as well as a Nurse, Nikki has high standards for the retail section of the spa. Although not expansive, it is substantial. I refuse to sell skin care products that simply don’t work, and I refuse to recommend products to clients if their current regimen is working for them. YOLO has a unique selection of gifts for people of all ages and stages. We carry the MD Mom’s line of skin care for new moms and babies; each product is designed for multiple purposes. Nikki loves their liquid powder; it is great to apply on those creases we all have, to prevent chaffing.
Our Grand Opening “Passport to Beauty” will be held on 6/25 from 5:30-8:00 and will offer raffles, demonstrations, as well as music by and up and coming local artist. YOLO has certainly made Guilford’s spa scene a whole lot brighter.
