Atlanta Based Non Profit Agency Causes Literacy Epidemic

June 14, 2009 - PRLog -- All Empowered, a community based 501c 3 non profit corporation has started a literacy epidemic.
The epidemic focuses on creating awareness and improving reading, writing and communication skills of adults and youth in the community through group and one-on-one activities.  The bottom line is that too many people cannot read or write beyond the 2nd grade level. By spreading literacy, we hope to make the ability to read and write available for every person that desires or needs it. We need volunteers.

We are calling all writers to assist in spreading this epidemic, by joining our Writers for Literacy Campaign. Our plan includes distributing books and enrolling individuals in the literacy programs offered through All Empowered. In addition, along with our partners we are working with the local schools to implement programs to help develop reading and writing skills to broaden the scope of those we can serve. All Empowered is a partner with the National Literacy Foundation and hosts the local National Family Literacy

To kick off the Epidemic, a Fundraiser Festivity will be held at J.W. Dobbs Elementary School on Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 11:00am. To 3:00pm.  J.W. Dobbs is located at 2025 Jonesboro Road, Atlanta, GA 30315. There will be food, festivities, and free books!  Donations are accepted in the form of Time (volunteers), Money, Books and Audio Books (eighth grade level and above).
