“Superstar Gospel” Performer Darryl Jovan Williams Returns To The Alliance Theater!

June 14, 2009 - PRLog -- Singer and Vocal Arranger Darryl Jovan Williams who portrayed “Judas” for the Atlanta Alliance Theater’s smash hit “Jesus Christ Superstar Gospel”, has been asked to return to work with director Susan Booth as vocal arranger for “Avenue X” a musical by Ray Leslee.

Ray Leslee’s a cappella musical (set in 1963) tells a story of how “Doo-Wop” tries to create a common thread between Italian-American and African-American protagonists.

Williams brings his expertise to the production, as a past star of the hit touring production of “Smokey Joe’s Café” also featuring Gladys Knight, and most recently as the vocal arranger for teen icon Lesley Gore at Feinstein’s New York.

Mr. Williams is currently starring as “Armand” in Stephen Flaherty-Lynn Ahrens’s “Once on This Island” for the Hangar Theater of Ithaca, New York, opening June 18 through July 4, 2009.

Avenue X is slated for a run at the Alliance Theater beginning January 13 through February 7, 2010.
