Jason Cercone Discusses Surviving in a Home-Based Business Opportunity

May 28, 2009 - PRLog -- PITTSBURGH – CarbonCopyPRO Consultant Jason Cercone took some time out of his week to discuss one of more plaguing issues in the network marketing issue:  Survival.

“The number of people who find success in this industry versus the number of people who don’t is astronomical,” Cercone said.  “But the gap between these numbers can be closed over time.  There are a few important things that everyone must realize before they make this venture, the biggest of which is they will not succeed if they refuse to work for their goals.”

According to Forbes Magazine, 79 million people in North America plan to start their own business in the next 3-5 years. This statistic is made possible by the thousands of network marketing opportunities available to people looking to work from home and create a legitimate income through their own business. These opportunities offer a wide variety of products supported by a compensation plan that pays a person for their efforts.

But statistics also show that 97% of home-based entrepreneurs actually spend more money than they make. Simply stated, as you open the doors to your first network marketing opportunity, your back is already against the wall. You are already a statistic. And many people get buried underneath these negative numbers and their business fails before they even get started.

“There are a lot of people who look for ‘get-rich-quick’ schemes,” Cercone explained. “These are the people who enter into an opportunity based purely on the success OTHERS have had and not on how much they’re willing to sacrifice to reach their goals. They buy into the fancy cars parked in front of the mansions with hundred-dollar bills filling the swimming pool.  And when they don’t get those results overnight, they become angry, quit, and blame everyone but themselves.”

Despite the overwhelming statistics and negative press, Cercone says there are ways new business owners can be part of the 3% of survivors.  

“There are legitimate business opportunities available to those who are serious about running their own business,” Cercone said.  “To be successful, you must find something you’re passionate about, develop the proper mindset, learn how to market yourself and your product, learn to set goals, and treat your business as a business and not a hobby.”
