June 16, 2009 - PRLog -- As the country struggles to recover from the economic downturn, government agencies and corporations seek to assist consumers in dealing with the difficulties they face. Many of those most affected, unaware that free trustworthy resources are available, are fleeced by scam artists who prey upon those who turn to them in desperation.

To warn consumers against further losses and inform them about the availability of free, trustworthy help, government agencies and other organizations that provide these services turn to International Contact to translate the information into over 100 languages.

Comcast Newsmakers invited Norma Armon and Carla Itzkowich from International Contact, Inc. to discuss what free resources available in various languages in this one-take public access spot.

The 5 minute spot ran in the Bay Area during the month of May and produced some calls from consumers who saw it and wanted information on opening a bank account or getting energy-efficient appliances.

Currently International Contact is helping the Unity Council provide foreclosure prevention and support seminars to English and Spanish speakers; the City of Richmond has just launched a new foreclosure assistance web site that is available in Spanish. Health research for Action at UC Berkeley is creating Medi-Cal handbooks in 10 languages to help the elderly and PG&E has language assistance in 6 languages for their Energy partners program.

Should your resource be listed on their “Resource Link” page?
To help direct the traffic generated by their appearance and since they do not provide the assistance directly, International Contact has started a resource page: http://www.intlcontact.com/pages/resource.html

"Although it isn't much yet," says Norma Armon, "it could become truly helpful as we promote it to all our clients and anyone who offers valuable low cost or free services to help people."

International Contact, Inc.  encourages anyone who fits that profile to contact them.
