Armed Robbers Steal £100,000 From Security Guards – 3 March 2009Armed robbers escaped with more than £100,000 after holding up security guards at a bank.
By: John Alele Two masked male passengers got out of the vehicle and threatened the security officers with what appeared to be a firearm. They forced them to open the safe then fled with a six figure sum of cash. They escaped in the BMW 1 series car which was being driven by a third man. The security officers were not injured but were left badly shaken by the incident. No firearm was discharged and no one was injured. Police appealed for information about the incident. Detective Inspector Robert Hendren said: "We are committed to tracing those responsible for this robbery and will use every means at our disposal to do so." The first suspect is described as around 5ft 8in and was wearing a dark top, light jeans, white trainers and a dark coloured balaclava. He spoke with a local accent. The second suspect was described as similar and no description of the third suspect, the male driver, was available.
